The origins of Sestriere Ski Club go back to 1931 and to some Piedmont ski pioneers. The goal was to build a ski school that spread modern techniques and formed new downhill skiers training the young valley people. Thus the Giovanni Agnelli stable was born. Since then there were numerous results and successes, with numerous athletes in national teams and from there to the world cup circuit. In the last ten seasons it was ranked among the first teams in Italy.
Since January 2004 the president Alessandro Garrone, executive vice president and president of the strategic committee of Erg spa and president of the Edoardo Garrone foundation, leads the ski club aided by the technical direction of Maurizio Poncet (Italian giant slalom champion in Cortina d’Ampezzo in 1979), 24 years at the helm of Sestriere Ski Club.
There are more than 340 students of Sestriere Ski Clubs, with 40 instructors and more than 500 members.
